The City of Fredericksburg is the regional nexus of world class healthcare services. It is the home of the largest provider in the market, Mary Washington Healthcare (MWHC), and the largest regional medical center Mary Washington Hospital, designated a Level II Trauma Center. MWHC is also the region’s largest employer.
Two new hospitals have recently opened in the region, underscoring the quality of and growth in the regional market. Prior to the opening of Stafford Hospital in 2009, no new hospital had opened in the Commonwealth of Virginia for 30 years.
In addition to these major healthcare providers, Fredericksburg and the region are served by a variety of specialty clinics, urgent care centers, surgery and rehabilitation centers, and a well-established free clinic.
